What Makes a Best Place to Work    [Date Added : 01/29/2014 ]
Recently, the Great Places to Work(r) Institute released its list of the top-100 US Best Places to Work. Google, SAS, The Boston Consulting Group, Edward Jones and Quicken Loans headed the 2014 list.

Fast Company magazine has analyzed the list to determine the factors that make a great employer. The study found that trust and engagement are particularly noteworthy traits among the top-100 firms.

They also found that not only did these key elements make staff happier, staff were 87% less likely to leave. This has a direct impact on the bottom-line as less turnover means there's no need to spend money and time recruiting and training new hires.

There are other, more subtle ways these companies stand out:

1. They provide opportunities for growth.

2. They consider succession planning.

3. Their values are integrated in their culture.

4. They let ideas trump seniority.
