For the fifth year in a row, Incheon International Airport has received the Airports Council International's (ACI) top Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award. The awards, based on extensive passenger surveys, are a leading benchmark of the best airports around the globe.
The top-5 ASQ Award Winners for 2009 are:
1. Incheon International
2. Singapore Changi
3. Hong Kong International
4. Beijing Capital International
5. Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International
Many airports use ASQ as a key performance indicator. It is designed to help participating airports to measure their performance year-on-year, as well as to benchmark against their peers worldwide, within their region and in the same size category.
In addition to the worldwide category, top performers were named for each of the six regional categories and five traffic size categories. By region, top marks went to:
- George, South Africa (Africa)
- Incheon, South Korea (Asia Pacific)
- Keflavik, Iceland (Europe)
- Cancun, Mexico (Latin America-Caribbean)
- Tel Aviv, Israel (Middle East)
- Austin, USA (North America).
By traffic size, the winners were:
- Halifax, Canada (under 5 million passengers)
- Hyderabad, India (5-15 million passengers)
- Baltimore/Washington, USA (15-25 million passengers)
- Incheon, South Korea (25-40 million passengers)
- Hong Kong (over 40 million passengers)
ACI Director General Angela Gittens said: "I congratulate Incheon for its singular performance, having garnered the top spot for five years running. This record is no accident, nor for the others who year after year continue to receive top honors. All have learned to focus on key performance factors that their passengers most appreciate. "
She added: "All demonstrate that they fully understand that what pleases a passenger today becomes tomorrow's expectation, and that to stay at the top, an airport must continuously refresh its offer and introduce new innovations that continue to delight the passenger on subsequent trips." |
