The Thai government's Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD) is striving to help local entrepreneurs to better understand the creative-economy concept, so that they may adapt their products and services to foreign markets.
The OKMD's Director Thanit Kittiampon has announced the full implementation of the Thai Khemkhaeng scheme which promotes a creative economy as a national economic policy.
The OKMD has developed a website to teach the public about knowledge management and the creative economy. The website provides information and news updates about the situation in Thailand and abroad.
"The public is still not very knowledgeable about what a creative economy is, so we'll use the website to promote the concept, stimulate learning and develop creativity." Thanit said.
The OKMD also has designed an Executive CE Training Program in cooperation with Chulalongkorn University's Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration. This special program will promote an understanding and awareness of the creative economy among entrepreneurs, in the hope this will lead to networks with other businessmen.
Thanit said that the OKMD could succeed in its mission only if local businessmen were receptive to upgrading their products and services to meet international standards, so the government must try to motivate them with financial assistance and marketing expertise. |
